Positive Impact:
Ikat weaves are woven in a village in telangana state in india’s south. The extraordinary skills go beyond the loom and start with the design, followed by the tying and dyeing process; skills that are handed down through generations. The design is achieved by using strips of rubber that have been cut from disused tyres and tied around the warp yarns to resist the colour and create the pattern when dyed.

These are traditional weavers who work in their homes; the women often do all the pre-loom work which involves reeling the yarn, and the men generally do the weaving.
